Every product sold in the EU needs a self declaration the product’s conformity with European health, safety and environmental protection standards.
One of these standards is Electromagnetic Compatibility. Right now, conformity tests are done at the end of design, when the physical prototype is available. Practice has shown that two thirds of all projects don’t fulfill conformity. To change the way of design and incorporate EMC from the start of the design is the goal of the project „Graz EMC Lab“. We lay the basis for simulation of Electromagnetic Interference and „Design for EMC“ development procedures, for Electronic Based Systems in general and especially for power electronic designs.
Modeling incoroporates all active and passive components, cable harnesses, printed circuit boards, housings and as well as measurement setup and equipment. By intelligent application of Model Order Reduction (MOR) we reduce computational complexity. For applicability in everyday’s design work, we create smooth and seamless simulation setups and procedures. This builds the basis for all further EMI simulation projects.
